How is CareEMR “different” from the myriad of competing EMR products on the market?

CareEMR is a completely integrated EMR and Practice Management (PM) suite designed for ambulatory care environments. The system includes broad functionality that automates the entire workflow from when a patient schedules an appointment to when they leave the office. Some notable features of this system are:

EMR products are often touted as providing a financial benefit to my practice. How does it save me money?

Reducing the cost of healthcare delivery is a primary feature of CareEMR. This is accomplished in a number of ways.

How does CareEMR minimize the business impact of adoption?

What are the real infrastructure requirements for adoption?

CareEMR support both Cloud-based and local deployment models. Additionally, we support both perpetual license and subscription based usage models. In this manner, adoption methods can be tailored to the healthcare practice’s needs. Some characteristic of this flexibility is as follows:

    Cloud-based Deployment:
  • The cost of ownership due to infrastructure is very low – and it can get staged as the enterprise grows.
  • Only need PCs & laptops and mobile devices such as iPads / tablets that can run standard internet browsers.
  • Internet connectivity of about 5MBPS through Local Area Network and / or as Wi-Fi is required.
    Local Deployment:
  • For an enterprise has about 10 practitioners and about 10 concurrent users, you can have one standard Server Class machine acting as the DB and Application Server with the required number of PCs and Laptops accessing the application. It will be ideal to have 2 such devices to enable high-availability.
  • For larger enterprises with > 50 concurrent users it is advisable to have separate Database & Application Servers (Server Class}, a standard PC as a Print Server and the required number of Client PCs / Laptops with high speed supporting LAN network.
  • Based on the specific needs of the implementation, we provide specific requirements on the hardware / software.

Can I maintain paper records at the same time as electronic? Or does the transition have to be all or nothing?

CareEMR can be configured to enable the enterprise to minimize the paper documents to the maximum extent possible while following the statutory norms of the region. Our Care suite includes document management solution that can also enable maintaining documents in digital format by scanning and archiving them after appropriate tagging / indexing, etc. These documents can be accessed based on defined access protocols and can be annotated, reviewed, approved / authenticated, rejected, edited, re-printed, etc. These documents can also be handed over to the patients and other users in the form of DVDs or other digital media.

How is CareEMR is supported (phone, online, on-site, etc.)? When issues/problems occur, how are
they reported?

We recognize that product support is a critical as the performance of the product in day-to-day operations. We offer a variety of support packages that can be tailored to you practice needs. As a nationwide healthcare solution, we offer support that spans the entire U.S. and is there to meet the specific business needs you may have. Additionally, for more complex issues, we have a dedicated product staff working in our technology centers that are ready and available to solve your problems.

To facilitate efficient problem resolution, our support includes a variety of mechanisms (online chat, phone, onsite, etc.). We also provide a tool to facilitate communication of issues that arise. This automated tool allows for communication, tracking, and escalation of problems directly from your system.

How often is the product updated (periodic, incident-based, etc.)? How do product updates
get distributed and implemented?

  • Our organization includes a dedicated Product Engineering team that caters to upgrades and releases at regular intervals. The regular upgrades and releases are typically driven by industry compliance needs (meaningful use, ICD, etc.), market requirements & trends and competition analysis.
  • We generally provide a Major Release every quarter and a few interim releases and upgrades for specific requirement / bug fixes.
  • CareEMR is a global product built based on inputs from multiple stake-holders such as industry experts (Doctors, nurses, healthcare IT consultants, etc.), user groups, prospective customers providing feedback, etc. Hence, the product has a definite roadmap with periodic upgrade releases. Each such release would include the list of features / functions added or modified.
  • We encourage all our clients to provide list of required features / functions that could be specific to their operations. We follow standard Build & Release process for release of upgrades. This is provided in a separate document.

What level of testing and QA are product updates subjected to?

  • Every change request / defect fix is undertaken by the Product Engineering team which will undertake Unit Testing before releasing to the QA team. The QA team will undertake Stress Testing, Functional Testing and Regression Testing before releasing to the Client.
  • The testing team logs every defect into a standard issue register with unique identification & tracking mechanism until the defect is closed.
  • It is always ensured that Severity Level 1 and Severity Level 2 defects are NOT leaked out to the client sites.
  • Appropriate training / documentation / release notes are provided to the users to educate about the new changes / enhancements.
