Specialties–Obstetrics & Gynecology

The Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn) specialty requires a special work flow integration within the EMR system to meet the typical needs of the specialty. The workflow not only involves the physician but extends to the nurses and assistants to accomplish the complete care of the patient. The real challenge in the CareEMR – Ob/Gyn is to keep the two unique work flows separate, one for the Obstetrics and another for the Gynecology. The workflow of Ob differs from that of Gyn and extends to the entire length of a patient’s pregnancy and through post pregnancy. It also includes the care provided in the subsequent visit(s) over this entire period. CareEMR – Ob/Gyn is specifically designed with these special requirements in mind and provides the physicians an easy and comfortable way of documentation for thire patient. Typically the Ob workflow in an EMR system follows the ACOG recommendations.

Our solution provides the physician with a standard documentation process for new Ob visit and follow-up Obvisit(s) along with the ante-partum record. The physician can estimate the expected date of delivery instantly with our gestational calculator, which supports the EDD for LMP as well as ultrasound findings such as crown-lump ratio and biparietal diameter. The derived results are displayed in months, weeks and days for ease of use. The new Ob visit workflow gives the physician the necessary charting elements in two screens (Prenatal 1 and prenatal 2). By this the physician can complete the required documentation much faster and view it without complex navigation. The history section of our CareEMR – Ob/Gyn comprehensively captures the needed data from past Obstetrics and past Gynecology history along with past medical, surgical, social and family history.
